LEWISTON – Mark J. Smith has been promoted to assistant vice president in the Float Management Department at TD Banknorth Inc. in Lewiston.

He will continue to be responsible for providing analytical and programming support to the bank’s payment services division as well as custom setup and programming for lockbox customers.

Smith joined Banknorth in 1992 and has 13 years in banking. He previously served as an officer, an IP system maintenance analyst, and an operations analyst.

A resident of Monmouth, Smith is a 1991 graduate of Champlain College in Burlington, Vt. A native of Wells, Vt., Smith is a 1988 graduate of Granville Central School, New York.
