AUBURN – The 138th annual exhibition of the American Watercolor Society is being held at the Salmagundi Club at the 47 Fifth Ave., New York City.

This year there were more than 1,400 entries from as far away as Canada, Turkey, Russia and Hong Kong. A committee of jurors, selected by the 400-member society, chose 100 paintings to be shown in the exhibit.

Among those exhibiting is Auburn artist Janet Laird-Lagassee and her painting titled “Radiance.” With the acceptance, Laird-Lagassee met the criteria for elevation to signature membership in the American Watercolor Society, the pinnacle for watercolor and watermedia artists.

Laird-Lagassee also holds signature membership in the New England Watercolor Society, Miniature Artists of America, Watercolor West and North East Watercolor Society. She is a member of the Watercolor USA Honor Society. Laird-Lagassee is represented by Bayview Gallery of Brunswick and Camden, and her work may be seen on-line at bayviewgallery.com.
