AUBURN – Bobby Morissette, owner and instructor of Xtreme Studios of Self Defense in Sabattus, will be the featured speaker at the next meeting of the Androscoggin Network Builders, a local chapter of Business Network International, on Tuesday, April 26.

Morissette will discuss the myths about martial arts training, the fitness and wellness benefits of martial arts and the various child and adult programs offered at his studio.

Parenting teens

BOWDOIN – The Bowdoin Historical Society will observe “Who Were Our Grandparents Day” when it meets for a 5:30 p.m. potluck meal on Sunday, May 1, at the FHC Inc. on Main Street. Fashions shown

LEWISTON – With proceeds benefiting Classy Lady Boutique, more than $2,100 was raised March 16 with “Classy Lady, The L/A Collection – A Spring Fashion Extravaganza.” The fund-raiser featured a mini-theater to demonstrate its mission to help women entering or re-entering the workforce displaying proper and improper interviewing skills. In addition, Classy Ladies from the Lewiston/Auburn area modeled.

Elaine Roop hosted the show while Ernie Gagne pumped up the crowd up with upbeat music.

Volunteers of Classy Lady Inc. serve women entering or re-entering the work force gain the necessary skills and confidence to obtain the next step in their employment goal.

They provide image consultation, as well as the sale of gently used business attire from the retail store at 165 Lisbon St.

Church secretaries

MECHANIC FALLS – A daylong seminar for church secretaries will be held at the 14 North Main St. offices of Life Matters in Mechanic Falls, on National Office Professionals Day, Wednesday, April 27, according to seminar leader, Marylin Newell.

The seminar will focus on three challenges faced by many church secretaries, organizing work, time management and using Internet resources, and will run from 8:45 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Registration fee is $25 and includes continental breakfast and lunch.
