HINGHAM, Mass. (AP) – A Rochester, N.H., man accused of kidnapping his ex-girlfriend at knifepoint was arraigned Monday in Hingham District Court as a fugitive.

Richard Ridlon, 46, was arrested in Norwell last week after allegedly kidnapping Patricia Adams, 51, in Dover, N.H.

Police said Ridlon has a history of domestic violence and has served time in Massachusetts.

Ridlon was charged with drug possession and being a fugitive. New Hampshire authorities have charged him with kidnapping.

Ridlon agreed to waive extradition and should be back to New Hampshire soon. In the meantime, he was held without bail in Massachusetts.



RAYMOND, N.H. (AP) – Rocks blasted from a sand and gravel pit caused extensive damage to a home and a neighboring hair salon Monday. No injuries were reported.

At Scoundrel’s Hair Salon, rocks went through a window and front door and smaller rocks were lodged in the wall.

Office windows at Raymond Sand and Gravel were blown out and a house on the property also was damaged.

Maine Blasting & Drilling of Gardiner, Maine, has been working for the sand and gravel company for years to mine a ledge. In the past, Route 27 sometimes has been shut down and surrounding businesses notified of impending blasting.

A Maine Drilling & Blasting spokesman said an investigation could take several days.
