LEWISTON – The Franco-American Heritage Center at St. Mary’s will host the monthly gathering of La Rencontre on Friday, May 6.
The group of about 160 people meets monthly and speak only French during the entire luncheon and program. A captain is chosen at every table to make certain everyone speaks French and if people do not, they are charged a quarter whenever they speak English. This is up to $1 only as the organization does not want to discourage anyone from coming if they feel their French is not up to par.
The luncheon this month will feature a lobster roll, coleslaw, chips, beverage and desert and the price is $6.50.
The entertainment program for this event will be Lionel Meservier and Raymond Chouinard formerly of the popular group, C’est Ci Bon. They will be playing and singing French songs for everyone to enjoy and perhaps follow along if they know the words.
Reservations are required and may be made by calling Claudette at 786-6936 or the center at 783-1585. Everyone is welcome.
