JAY – A Fayette man remained in jail Tuesday, held on $1,000 cash bail after police arrested him Monday and charged him with two counts of unlawful sexual contact allegedly involving two children under age 5.
Jay police Detective Roderick Small arrested Ronald R. Gordon Jr., 36, of Campground Road in Fayette, on Monday after he conducted an investigation, Police Chief Larry White Sr. said in a release Tuesday.
The alleged incident happened in Jay, White stated, while the two children were with a baby sitter for a few hours on or about Sunday.
The children’s mother became suspicious when the children appeared upset upon her return home, White said. The mother questioned the children and then notified police, he said.
After numerous interviews, Small charged Gordon with two counts of Class B unlawful sexual contact.
Gordon was booked by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department, and bail was set at $1,000 cash, White said.
Gordon’s court date was set for May 25 at 12th District Court in Farmington, a Franklin County Detention Center employee said Tuesday.
