BETHEL – The first of four public presentations on the future of Maine’s forest economy and activities will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Bethel Inn in Bethel.

R. Alec Giffen, director of the Maine Forest Service, with co-sponsorship from the Maine Forest Products Council and the Maine Pulp and Paper Association, is to host the statewide informational forums. Giffen is to present the Future Forest Economy Project report, which offers 19 recommendations and a road map to follow for both the forest products industry and state government.

Other 7 to 9 p.m. meetings are set for Wednesday, May 4, at Jeff’s Catering in Brewer; Wednesday, May 11, at the University of Maine at Presque Isle; and Thursday, May 19, at the University of Maine Law School at Portland.
