BRUNSWICK – Walter L. Burpee, 75, of Bailey Island, passed away Sunday, April 24, at Mid Coast Hospital, Brunswick.
Born in Lynn, Mass., on April 14, 1930, he was the son of Walter Francis and Maxine Tarr Burpee. Educated in local schools, he served in the Air Force during the Korean War.
He worked for Snow’s Automotive, United Sports Inc., and was self employed as a carpenter. He loved motocross, camping, fishing, playing guitar and the outdoors. He was master of the Masonic Lodge 105.
He is survived by his wife, Alice Read Burpee, of 23 years; two daughters, Barbara Davis of Lewiston and Susan and husband, Christopher Barbay, of Wales; two brothers, Donald Bruce Burpee and Brian Burpee of Durham; one granddaughter, Sarah Barbay; and his daughter-in-law, Christa Burpee of Lewiston.
He was predeceased by his parents; one son, Richard Burpee; and one sister, Dianthia Burpee.
