TOPSHAM – Maine people from Eastport to Bridgton and from Millinocket to Biddeford are registered to attend the 27th annual American Cancer Society Living With Cancer Conference.
Workshops take place from 7:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 4, at the Augusta Civic Center. People with cancer, family members, friends and medical professionals are attending the event. This year’s conference has a focus on healing from within and will feature two well-known speakers.
Tom Monte is a noted author and natural-healing teacher who specializes in creating a bridge of understanding between the ancient and modern forms of healing. He has written more than 28 books and hundreds of articles on health.
Margery Eliscu, a national award-winning columnist, has been featured in the Maine Sunday Telegram for 21 years and her column has been reprinted in national publications. She will present a light-hearted discussion of humor’s important role in dealing with and healing from cancer using her own personal experiences and stories as a two-time cancer survivor.
Workshops will be offered at the Living With Cancer Conference including discussions on caregiving, complementary therapies, a patient’s guide to pain management, spirituality, and updates on treatment options and new technologies pertinent to men’s cancers and women’s cancers. Presenters include Maine physicians, social workers and other specialists.
