FARMINGTON – Rural Life Sunday with the Blessing of the Plants and Animals will be observed Sunday, May 1, at Fairbanks Union Church in Farmington and the New Portland churches at the West New Portland Church.

The theme of the service will be rural life, and it is traditional that people who attend the service may, if they wish, bring pets, farm animals, plants or soil to receive a blessing.

Worship and Sunday school at Fairbanks Union Church will begin at 9 a.m. and the New Portland service at 11 a.m. The Rev. Scott Planting will preach. Everyone is invited to attend and celebrate the rural way of life. For more information, call 778-4705.

Rummage sale

JAY – There will be a rummage and food sale from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 7, at the North Jay Grange Hall to benefit the grange.

Rabies clinic

SALEM – A rabies clinic will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 7, at the Salem Fire Station. The cost will be $8 a pet. Vaccines will be given by the Clearwater Veterinary Hospital. One-year vaccines will be given unless owners bring proof of previous vaccine.

Tags and certificates will be given. The clinic is sponsored by the Salem Fire Department Auxiliary.

Board meeting

FARMINGTON – Franklin County Soil and Water Conservation District will hold its monthly board meeting from 9 a.m. to noon Monday, May 2, at the USDA Service Center conference room, 107 Park St. It is open to the public. Copies of the agenda may be picked up at the district office.
