DOVER, N.H. – Ansel C. “Sonny” Evans Jr., 71, of Locke Road, Moultonboro, N.H., died Saturday, April 23, at Wentworth Douglas Hospital in Dover, N.H.
He was born in Berlin, N.H., Sept. 21, 1933, son of the late Ansel C. and Vera (Milligan) Evans. He grew up in Gorham, N.H., moved to Chocorua, N.H., 25 years ago, and has lived in Moultonboro, N.H., for the past three years.
He worked as a mechanic and owned Ansel’s Texaco in Gorham, N.H., for 30 years. For the past 25 years, he had been the caretaker of Juniper Lodge in Tamworth, N.H.
He was a member of the Jefferson Lodge in Bryant Pond.
Survivors include two sons, Andrew Evans of Berwick, and Robert Evans of Bryant Pond; a brother, Donald Evans of Campton, N.H.; two sisters, Margaret Edgcomb of Manchester, N.H., and Nancy Blanchard of Tacoma, Wash.; and four grandchildren, Chadley Evans, Austin Evans, Collin Evans and Christopher Evans.
