AUBURN – Edith A. Miller, 89, has gone to be with the Lord after a long illness on Thursday, April 28, with her family by her side.
She was born in Leeds, on Feb. 27, 1916, daughter of the late Floyd and Lena (Glidden) Hartford, and attended the Auburn school systems, graduating from Edward Little in 1933.
She then continued on to St. Mary’s Nursing School. After graduating in 1937, Edith married the love of her life, Armand C. Miller, on Sept. 5, 1937. Together they remained in the Auburn community while raising there two beautiful daughters.
She worked as a registered nurse at CMMC for 32 years, until her retirement in 1976.
She was a member of South Lewiston Baptist Church.
In her free time, she enjoyed going to lawn sales, traveling around the U.S. and Canada with her husband, sewing and knitting for her family, and working with ceramics.
She will be sadly missed by her husband, Armand Miller, of Auburn; two daughters, Faye Searles and her husband, Russell E. Neal Jr., of Wales, and Jean Raymond and her husband, Normand, of Auburn; a sister, Willa Upham of Alabama; two brothers, Oscar and his wife, Ginney Hartford, of Lewiston, and George and his wife, Rita Hartford, of Leeds; seven grandchildren, Kelley Bisson, Norma Mollica, Bruce Eells, David Searles, Susan Hatch, Ted Searles, and Russell E. Neal III; 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and close friends.
She was predeceased by her parents and brothers, Percy, Wendall, Herbert, and Harvey Hartford.
