WALTHAM, Mass. – Brandeis University relief ace Brian Lambert was named the 2005 NCAA Pitcher of the week for April 18-24 by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.

Lambert, a senior from Auburn, led the Judges to a 3-1 week last week, appearing in all four contests with a 1-0 record and two saves. In 9.2 innings of relief work, he allowed just three hits and one run while striking out eight and walking none.

In a contest with Johnson and Wales, Lambert had his longest outing of the season, tossing the final five innings of a 12-inning 4-3 victory. Against Wheaton College, he went 2.2 innings, allowing no hits with three strikeouts, for his 10th save of the season.

Lambert is tied for the NCAA lead in saves, while his 0.98 ERA is among the top 10 in the nation. With 17 career saves, he is tied as Brandeis’s career leader with David McDonald.
