WINTHROP – Mabel Gertrude Peare, 88, of Main Street, Monmouth, died Thursday, April 28, at Winthrop Manor.
She was born on Aug. 24, 1916, in Albany, the daughter of Eugene and Myrtie (Lorry) Chayer. She attended schools in Milan, N.H., Bryant Pond and Rumford High School.
On Nov. 5, 1934, she married Arland C. Peare in Rumford.
She and Arland operated the Peare Farm on Lower Street in Turner for 44 years. He passed away in 1989.
She had been a housewife, homemaker and mom.
She was a member of the Rebekaha’s Lodge in Turner.
She enjoyed visiting with family, playing cards with her neighbors, and going for rides in the car, and she also loved her dog, “Rascal.”
She is survived by one daughter, Sandra Pettengill and her husband, Gilbert, of Monmouth; a son, Arland “Sonny” C. Peare Jr. and his companion, Doris Winchester, of Bucksport; nine grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Marlene Peterson; two grandsons, Kenneth Peare and Scott Pettengill; three sisters, Vivian Palmer, Lena Cantello and Amy Farrar; and her brother, Arthur Chayer.
