RUMFORD – Shawn Marr hit a grounder that scored Pat Knapp for the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh as Mountain Valley defeated Madison 5-4 in baseball action on Friday.

Mountain Valley’s (2-0) Jeremy Sterling hit a leadoff double in the seventh and scored on a hit by Ben Madigan for the game-tying run.

Madison (1-1) scored four runs in the top of the seventh on two-run singles from Brock Frederick and Ryan Carpenter.

Buckfield 10, Waynflete 3

BUCKFIELD – Justin Dodge had two hits, including an RBI triple, to lift Buckfield past Waynflete, 10-3, in baseball action. Starter Jamie Henderson pitched five innings and struck out six to pick up his first win of the season.

Henderson and Chris Reuter each had a double for Buckfield (2-0). Waynflete (0-1) was led by Peter Devine with two doubles.

Mt. Abram 11, Hall-Dale 1

SALEM – Rob Thorndike led the Roadrunners with three hits as Mt. Abram cruised to an 11-1 win in six innings over Hall-Dale in MVC baseball action Friday.

The Roadrunners (1-1) crushed the ball to post seven runs in the first inning, including a round-tripper from Andy Sperry.

The Bulldogs (0-2) tallied their only run in the first inning on a bases-load walk.

Winthrop 3, Georges Valley 0

WINTHROP – Winthrop used a single by David Ricker and a double off the bat of Tavis Hasenfus in the third inning as the Ramblers downed Georges Valley 3-0 in MVC baseball action on Friday.

Cory Gillespie picked up the win with a shutout as the Ramblers notched their second win of the season.

Chip Burnham blasted a double for the only extra base hit of the game. Mike Thomas took the loss.

Oxford Hills 7, Medomak Valley 2

SOUTH PARIS – Matt McDonnell had three hits and two RBIs to lead Oxford Hills to a 7-2 victory over Medomak Valley in varsity baseball action.

Oxford Hills had back-to-back hits in the fourth. Kalvin Decato hit a two-run single followed by a Matt McDonnell RBI double.

Medomak Valley’s Nate Ayotte hit an RBI single in the first that scored Andy Ferrer. Travis Ventimila had two hits, including a triple for Medomak Valley.

Skowhegan 3, Leavitt 2

SKOWHEGAN – Ryan York drove a single up the middle, platting Ryan York in the bottom of the sixth inning, to lift Skowhegan to a 3-4 win over Leavitt in KVAC baseball action on Friday.

Matt Ouellette picked up the win, striking out eight while allowing just three walks.

The Hornets (1-3) were led by Adam Sawyer with a pair of singles. Sawyer also took the loss on the mound despite six strikeouts.

Gardiner 4, Lewiston 2

LEWISTON – Gardiner scored four unearned runs on just two hits to defeat Lewiston, 4-2, in KVAC baseball action Friday.

Stefan Black surrendered two hits and fanned nine while going the distance for Gardiner (2-2).

Lewiston’s Zack Timmermeyer left the game in the fifth, having not allowed a hit, but made a couple of crucial throwing errors that led to Gardiner runs in the first and fourth innings. Brian Nason had a hit and scored a run for Lewiston (0-3).

St. Dom’s 6, OOB 4

AUBURN – Brady Blackmon had two singles, drove in two runs and picked up his first save of the season to lead St. Dom’s past Old Orchard Beach 6-4 on Friday afternoon.

Jimmy Moreau joined Blackmon, tallying two hits, one of which was a double.

Brett Carry picked up the win for the Monks who improved to 2-0.

Tom Gorman and Bill Bobix led the Old Orchard offense with two hits apiece. Tomas Mondor took the loss on the hill for the Seagulls who fall to 1-1.

Wiscasset 4, Telstar 1

BETHEL – Ben Emery shut down opposing batters, tossing a complete game two-hitter, allowing no earned runs and striking out five for Wiscasset, as the Redskins downed Telstar 4-1 Friday evening.

Nick Bennett was responsible for all the runs the Redskins would need on the afternoon. He drove in Wiscasset’s first run in the fourth inning with a double and then came around to score the eventual game-winner with two outs on a throwing error by Telstar’s second baseman.

Terry Collins took the loss for the Rebels despite pitching a strong game, allowing no earned runs, and striking out 10 while walking only three. August Reiss scored the lone run for Telstar after doubling in the fifth inning and moving to third. Steven Scotti lifted a deep flyball to score Reiss from third.

Wiscasset stays unbeaten on the young season with a 2-0 record, while Telstar falls to 0-2.

Livermore 7, Lisbon 3

LIVERMORE FALLS – Tyler Cote delivered a grand slam with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift Livermore Falls to a 7-3 victory over Lisbon on Friday.

Brad Bryant picked up his second win of the season on the hill for Livermore Falls, and helped himself out at the plate scattering, three hits on the afternoon. Levi Armandi and Cote each had two hits for the Andies.

Payton Austin pitched a strong game for the Greyhounds. Mike Williams had three hits for Lisbon and teammate Chirs Kates added two. Lisbon falls to 0-4 on the season, while Livermore Falls improves to 3-1.

Lacrosse

Hebron 12, Kents Hill 1

HEBRON – Chris Hamilton and Camerson Gosney combined for eight goals to power Hebron Academy to a 12-1 win over Kents Hill in lacrosse action on Friday.

Brent Miller added a pair of goals as Hebron was never challenged.

Skip Meister’s lone goal avoided the shutout for Kents Hill.

Boothbay 16, Dirigo 7

DIXFIELD – Blake Krunkiel had four hits, including two doubles and three RBIs, to lead Boothbay to a 16-7 victory over Dirigo in baseball action on Friday.

Adam Climo belted a triple for the Seahawks (1-0). Casey Lattter picked up the win for Boothbay.

For Dirigo (0-3), it was Chris Merrill and Chris Richards with two hits apiece. Boothbay scored eight runs in the seventh.
