LEWISTON – Amanda Michaud had seven strikeouts while walking only four batters to pick up her second win of the young softball season as Lewiston downed Gardiner 9-4 on Friday afternoon.
Michaud helped her own cause at the plate, scattering two hits, while teammates Ali Coleman and Allie Morin added two hits and drove in two runs each. Jess Nadeau and Maria Labbe started the scoring for the Blue Devils (2-1) as they each drove in a run in the first inning.
Courtney Allen took the loss for Gardiner (0-3), while Alex Fish and Lorin Beckwith each had a pair of hits for the Tigers.
Oxford Hills 5, Medomak Valley 0
SOUTH PARIS – Starter Randi Arsenault pitched a one-hitter with seven strikeouts to lead Oxford Hills to a 5-0 victory over Medomak Valley on Friday.
The Vikings hit back to back doubles in the third. Amber Millett smacked a two-run double that scored Tia Pratt and Annie Foster. Then Arsenault doubled to bring home Millet.
Jill Cole was the only repeat hitter for Oxford Hills (3-1). Aly Ladwing had the only hit for Medomak Valley (1-2).
Lisbon 6, Livermore Falls 5
LIVERMORE FALLS – Soleil Mathieu had three hits, including an RBI single that brought home Erica Merritt for the game-winning run, as Lisbon defeated Livermore Falls 6-5 on Friday.
Merritt hit an RBI double that scored Rachelle Henry in the sixth.
Sarah Hamilton and Rachel Venrella each had two RBIs for Livermore Falls while Krista Allen hit two doubles. Andies’ starter Daniel Gray struck out eight batters and walked only one for the tough-luck loss.
Mt. Abram 13, Hall-Dale 1
SALEM – Logahn Walker had three hits and scored a pair of runs while pitching two innings of scoreless relief to carry Mt. Abram to a 13-1 victory over Hall-Dale in a softball matchup on Friday.
Mt. Abram’s (2-1) starter Katie Walker struck out eight batters and gave up one hit to pick up her second win. Emily Stinchfield also had three hits for the Roadrunners.
Telstar 25, Wiscasset 0
BETHEL – Tiffany Jordan went 4-for-4 with four runs scored and two RBIs as Telstar pounded Wiscasset 25-0 in a softball matchup on Friday.
The Rebels’ Jillian Kimball and Kayla Mills each went 3-for-3 with two RBIs.
Jessie Farrington pitched a complete game with 11 strikeouts and two walks. She only allowed three hits. Farrington and Liz Rosenberg each went 2-for-3 with three RBIs for Telstar (2-0).
St. Dom’s 10, OOB 1
AUBURN – Jamie Dorian went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and belted a two-run homer as St. Dom’s defeated Old Orchard Beach 10-1 in a varsity softball contest on Friday.
Sam Morency went 2-for-3 with a double, a run scored and three RBIs. Elisha Dorso’s only hit was a two-run homer for the Saints (2-0). Saints’ starter Emily Goss pitched a complete game with eight strikeouts and one walk to pick up her second win. Tni Lambert went 2-for-3 for Old Orchard Beach (0-2).
Georges Valley 8, Winthrop 1
WINTHROP – Elena Bertocci had three hits, including a double, to lead Georges Valley to an 8-1 win over Winthrop in MVC softball action on Friday.
The contest remained close until the fourth inning when the Buccaneers (1-0) unloaded three doubles to turn a one-run game into a 4-0 lead. Georges Valley picked up a pair of unearned runs in each of the fifth and sixth innings to cement the victory.
The Ramblers (0-1) scored their lone run in the fourth inning on an RBI single from Kate Rosenbaum.
Dirigo 9, Boothbay 2
DIXFIELD – Holly Knight singled up the middle in the bottom of the second inning, platting Cici Chow and Megan Russell, to lift Dirigo to a 9-2 win over Boothbay in MVC softball on Friday.
Katie Hutchinson went the distance on the mound to register the Cougars’ first win of the season.
Shannon Daley and Michelle Holmquist carried the big bats with a pair of hits each, while Kayleigh Daley’s double was the only extra base hit of the game.
Erika Landry took the loss for the Seahawks.
Cony 3, EL 0
AUBURN – A walk and a pair of stolen bases by Amanda Albert set the stage for a single up the middle by Allyson Cheever to give Cony the only run it would need as the Rams handed Edward Little a 3-0 setback in KVAC softball action on Friday.
Monica White notched the victory with a complete game gem for the Rams (3-1), allowing three singles. White added a triple for the only extra base hit of the game.
Katelyn Chamberlain took the loss with a complete game effort for the Red Eddies (1-2)
Lacrosse
Hebron 8, Hyde 5
HEBRON – Taylor Fey scored a hat trick to lead Hebron Academy to an 8-3 win over Hyde School in girls’ lacrosse play on Friday.
Hebron held a slim 3-2 lead at the end of the first half, but broke it open in the second half with a pair of goals from Nina Planson and Jill MacIssac and a goal from KJ Fornard to record its fourth win of the season.
Opal Fleischman scored three goals to lead the Phoenix.
Lincoln 13, Mountain Valley 11
RUMFORD – Four different players scored a hat trick in a balanced attack to lift Lincoln Academy to its first ever varsity lacrosse win with a 13-11 decision over Mountain Valley in KVAC action Friday.
The Falcons (0-3) reversed a one-point deficit at the half to take a 9-7 lead early in the second frame.
But the Eagles (1-1) picked away and regained the lead.
Eagles’ goalie Liz Barclay had several spectacular point-blank saves to earn her first win in style.
Falcon senior center Jessica Allen was the work horse for Mountain Valley, tallying eight goals in the loss.
