NORWAY – Harold Eugene Thorpe, 77, of Hebron, died Monday, May 2, at Stephens Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Hebron, on April 5, 1928, the son of Ruby and Harold Thorpe. He married Marion Bonney on Sept. 30, 1960.
He was a sergeant in the National Guard for several years before serving as constable for Hebron, and later a police officer for the town of South Paris and the sheriff’s department. He retired from the Hebron Academy maintenance department.
He was active in the snowmobile club and various other clubs over the years. He was one of the first members of the volunteer rescue squad in Hebron.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years; three sons, James Thorpe and his partner, Jewel, of Oxford, Stephen Thorpe of Virginia and Jeff Thorpe and his wife, Barbara, of Hebron; three daughters, Gail Castonguay and her husband, Leon, of Hebron, Jo Neal and her husband, Kenny, of Rumford and Pat Wheeler and her husband, Wendell, of Hebron; six grandchildren, Scott, Holly, Beth, Stephen Jr., Kevin and Geri; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Alberta Jones of Minot.
