BOSTON (AP) – A West Virginia psychiatrist was arrested when security workers at Logan International Airport discovered a loaded gun in one of his carryon bags, police said.
Delano H. Webb III, 65, of Huntington, W. Va., was arrested Saturday afternoon while on his way to catch a Delta Air Lines fight home, police said.
He was released on $500 bail and ordered to appear for an arraignment May 9 in East Boston District Court on charges including possession of an unlicensed handgun, and carrying a weapon in a secure area of the airport.
Police said Webb put his backpack through an X-ray machine in Terminal A and the machine’s operator saw the outline of the handgun and alerted state police.
The police later identified the weapon as a .380-caliber Smith & Wesson. Police said the gun had one bullet in the chamber and seven more in the magazine.
