LEWISTON – Edward Walter Peseckis, 68, of 10 Farwell St., died Tuesday, May 3, at Central Maine Medical Center, with his family by his side.
He was born in Lewiston, on May 23, 1936, at his lifelong home at 10 Farwell St., the son of Lithuanian immigrants, Walter and Antoinette (Semajauskas) Peseckis.
He had served in the U.S. Army from 1959 to 1961.
He attended Boston University, where he earned a B.S. degree in public relations and communications. He then attended the Babson Institute where he completed a year of studies. He attended the University of Maine in Portland/Gorham where he received his masters of science in education and later a certificate of advance studies at the University of Maine in Orono.
Following his education, he went on to teach at Anson Academy and in Boothbay Harbor, and later returned to Lewiston in 1968 where he taught in various elementary schools until his retirement in 1993.
He was a lifelong member of St. Patrick’s Church where he served as an altar boy in his youth.
He enjoyed gardening, working around the house, fishing, motorcycling and was an avid reader of nonfiction, which included history, science, religion and philosophy.
He loved his family dearly and was especially proud of his granddaughter.
He is survived by his daughter, Lana Woodcock and her husband, Scott, of Portsmouth, N.H.; his granddaughter, Nastasya Woodcock; his twin brother, Alphonse A. Peseckis of Lewiston; his sister, Florence Beaulieu and her husband, Laurier, of Reading, Mass.; and by several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; and by his brother, Frank Peseckis.
