NEW SHARON – The cause of death of a Farmington woman, whose car went into a pond Sunday night, has been determined to be drowning, a representative of the state Medical Examiner’s Office said Tuesday.

Minta Williams, 88, and her vehicle were found in Crowell Pond just over the New Sharon line from Chesterville early Monday.

Williams had been traveling on Whittier Road, a dirt road, and went into the pond at the intersection of Route 41, state police acting Sgt. Christopher Carr said Monday.
