LISBON FALLS — Brittany Hilton struck out 12 and issued only one walk through seven innings of work as Monmouth squeezed past Lisbon 3-2 in MVC softball action Tuesday.
Hilton scattered four hits to earn the win for the Mustangs (3-1). Jill Armstrong sparked the Mustangs offense with three hits, and Alex Gauthier had the lone RBI.
Soleil Mathieu had two hits and an RBI for the Greyhounds (3-3), while Belle Mathieu also had an RBI in the losing effort.
Georges Valley 4, Dirigo 3
THOMASTON – Brittany Worcester scattered three hits and received solid support at the plate as Georges Valley edged Dirigo 4-3.
Desiree Smith belted out a triple and tallied an RBI for the Buccaneers (3-0). Worcester and Chelsey Eugley added a pair of singles in a balanced effort.
Michelle Holmquist led the Cougars (1-4) with a double, while Abby Fenstermacher suffered her second loss.
Baseball
Mtn. Valley 6, Liv. Falls 3
LIVERMORE FALLS — Chris Cayer smacked a solo home run and added an RBI double to lift Mountain Valley to a 6-3 victory over Livermore Falls.
Korey Stairs got the mound win for the Falcons, holding the Andies to two runs in six innings. Pat Knapp, Ben Madigan, and Marcus Palmer all contributed a double to help spark the offense.
Dane Hanson was saddled with the loss for the Andies (3-3), but struck out 11 batters. Jake Marceau had a solo home run in the sixth inning.
