FARMINGTON – Minta K. Williams, died unexpectedly Sunday evening, May 1, during a tragic car accident.
She was born in Mercer, June 14, 1916, to Eva and Harry Kimball.
She married her beloved husband, Gerard S. Williams, in 1937. They lived their first years in Bethel, where her husband practiced law until World War II. She was very proud of their service years in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1946. After the war, they moved to Farmington and she lived there for the remainder of her life.
She loved life and everything about it. At the age of 70, she took up tennis and enjoyed playing frequently with her friends. She also enjoyed going to workout at the gym, playing bridge, taking Spanish lessons and cooking exotic meals for her family. Adventure was a big part of her life and she became a world traveler, spending many winters in Spain, as well as several other trips to China, Japan, Turkey, Greece, and many trips to Europe and France.
She was a member of the Monday club, Phylatia club, Red Hats, Garden Club and a weekly volunteer at the Farmington Thrift Store.
She is survived by her devoted children, Karen Williams Jordan and her husband, Charles A. Jordan, of New Sharon and Gerard K. Williams of Farmington; as well as a number of dedicated friends; two beloved grandchildren, Alanna Minta Jordan who lives in Paris, France and Jared Williams Jordan of New Sharon, who is graduating from UMO with a degree in engineering this Saturday; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her husband, Gerard, in 1975; a sister, Wilma K. Estey; and a brother, Cecil Kimball.
