WEST BOWDOIN – Arthur Lincoln Card, 82, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 4, with his family by his side.

He was born in Bowdoin on Feb. 12, 1923, son of the late Arthur E. and Edna (Skelton) Card.

He was a lifelong member of the Bowdoin community, having only left Bowdoin for 3-1/2 years while in the U.S. Army. He served with the 20th Air Force Unit during World War II, from Jan. 29, 1943 through Nov. 25 1945, where he earned a Good Conduct Medal, Air Medal, GO #67 Hq AF 45 Victory Medal, Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon, and the American Theater Campaign Ribbon.

He then married the love of his life, Dora L. Riley, and together they raised seven children. He worked at Bath Iron Works as a tool clerk for more than 30 years.

He was a member of the West Bowdoin Baptist Church, as well as a member of the Bowdoin Grange.

In his free time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, his guns, gardening, and riding his motorcycle. He was quite the outdoorsman.

He is survived by seven children, Carol Carlson and her husband, Richard, of Milaca, Minn., Harold Card of Massachusetts, Thomas and his wife, Nancy Card, of Litchfield;, Victoria Card of Petaluma, Calif., Virginia Card of Auburn, Frank Card of Leeds, John and his wife, Jamie Card, of Chesterfield, N.H.; one sister, Minerva Small, of Auburn; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one nephew; and many nieces.

He was predeceased by his wife of 48 years, Dora; and a brother, Harry Card.
