LEWISTON – The Northstar Session, a San Diego-based band led by Bates College alumni Matt Szlachetka, will perform live at 8 p.m. Monday, May 9, at The Silo (Benjamin Mays Center) at Bates College.
The band, which plays a blend of rock, pop and blues, has been performing in southern California. The group’s first full-length album, “One Way Ticket,” features blues, electric guitar, harmonies and emotional lyrics.
The Northstar Session will embark this month on an eight-day tour of East Coast cities and is scheduled to open for the Dave Brubeck Quartet in August.
Band members besides Szlachetka, who plays guitar and sings, are Greg Roberts, drums; Todd Newman, keyboards and vocals; and Matt Warshauer, bass.
Szlachetka graduated from Bates College with a degree in music composition in 2002.
