ROXBURY – State police said Thursday morning that an elderly Roxbury man fell asleep at the wheel Wednesday on Route 120 in Roxbury and crashed into a brook. He was not injured.

At about noon, Gilman Sirois, 79, was driving a 2000 Dodge pickup west, going uphill and around a sharp corner in Roxbury Notch when the accident occurred, Trooper Daniel Hanson said.

“He had been having some medical procedures recently, and he was obviously tired at that time of the afternoon, and fell asleep while driving,” Hanson said.

The truck sustained an estimated $5,000 damage, he added.
