AUGUSTA – Lucille Jean Maxim, 80, died peacefully at home Friday, May 6, surrounded by the love of her family.

On April 11, 1925, Lucille was born at the family’s homestead along the banks of the St. John River in Upper Frenchville, to Arthur and Delina (Cyr) Cote.

She was educated at the Holy Rosary Convent Catholic School.

During her lifetime, she was a devout Catholic, attending Mass at St. Augustine, St. Mary’s, and St. Andrew’s churches.

On Aug. 23, 1947, Lucille married Wallace Maxim at St. Mary’s Church in Augusta. It was at this point that her career evolved into that of a housewife, mother, and caregiver to five children, seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, multiple nephews, nieces, cousins, dogs, pets and stray neighborhood children who often popped in for short visits.

Our mother’s soft heart and generosity extended to all friends, family and strangers. She gave a helping hand to those less fortunate through donations of money and gifts.

She is survived and will be greatly missed by her loving children, Warren Maxim and fiance, Joanna Wancas, of Augusta, Marlene Ross of Sidney, Wallene Ross and significant other, Thaddeus Ross, of Augusta, Darin Maxim and fiance, Sharon Woodruff, of Augusta, Kevin Maxim of Burien, Wash.; grandchildren, Eric Maxim and wife, Lori, of Augusta; their children, Mya and Kolby, Brian Ross and wife, Kim, of Fayette; their children, Chad, Chelsey and Alexandra; Jason Ross of Florida; his children, Jennifer, Michelle, and Danielle Ross of Augusta; great-granddaughter, Vivian Tschamler of Belgrade; sister, Jeannette and husband, Bertrand Chenard, of Lewiston; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Wallace, of 27 years in 1975; grandson, Todd Ross in 1997; her parents; two sisters; and one brother.
