I read in the Sun Journal on April 27 that Home Depot is trying to build a store near the former Mt. Blue Shopping Center, across from Wal-Mart on the way to Farmington. Company officials want sewer and water lines put in.

That is a very bad idea. In Wilton, on Depot Street stands a huge vacant building – the former Wilton Woolen Mill plant. It has the sewer connection and water line, plenty of parking space, sprinkler system, two elevators, office space on the top floor and power connections. There is plenty of space there, and the beams must be strong because the building used to have all sorts of machines there, and weighty ones, too. So why destroy some farmland and cover it up with cement and asphalt? When we keep on destroying wetland, forest and farmland, life will also be destroyed

Also, I know that people like to use their cars. People will drive to Timbuktu for groceries thinking they can save 10 cents on the price of an item. Ha! See how much gas costs today. They should use their heads. There is a nice grocery store nearby. I see people living next door to it use a car to go there, then they wonder why they are falling apart (the people and the car, too).
