CHICOPEE, Mass. – Rallying for three runs in the seventh to send the game into extra innings, Maine-Farmington rode the ninth-inning heroics Cynthia Ravinski and Megan McCrum to stun top-ranked Elms College 9-8 to win the North Atlantic Conference title.
The victory earns the Beavers an automatic bid into the NCAA Division III tournament.
UMF (19-12) began the day with a 2-1 triumph over Elms to force the deciding contest.
Trailing 5-2 in their final at-bat, the Beavers tied the game with two outs on McCrum’s RBI double and Brandi Rideout’s two-run double to deep left-center.
After the teams traded runs in the eighth, UMF grabbed the lead on Ravinski’s two-run double and McCrum’s second RBI double of the game.
Elms (26-9) scored two unearned runs in the ninth before pitcher Stephanie Moriarty recorded the final out on an infield popout.

USM sweeps UMD
GORHAM – Three pitchers combined on a five-hitter in the opener and Kyle Fecteau gave up one earned run over seven innings in the nightcap as Southern Maine swept UMass-Dartmouth 3-1 and 6-3.
Trailing 1-0 in the first, the Huskies (24-12) tied it in the home half of the inning when Nick Vadaro scored on a double steal. Joe McGhee followed with an RBI single for the go-ahead run.
USM opened up a 5-0 in Game 2. Brent Lemieux led the Huskies with three hits.
