RANGELEY – Pitcher Kate Jamison launched two grand slams to power Rangeley to a 24-5 rout over Valley in EWC softball action on Monday.
The Lakers (3-1) were already leading 10-2, when in the bottom of the fourth inning, they peeled off another 14 runs.
Krista Jamison, Emily George and Raina Eustis contributed a pair of hits as part of Rangeley’s 12-hit afternoon.
The Cavaliers shortened a Rangeley 24-2 lead by three runs in the top of the fifth inning of the abridged game.
Lisbon 13, Carrabec 1
CARRABEC – Siobhan Riordan had two hits and two RBIs to lead Lisbon to a 13-1 win over Carrabec in a softball matchup on Monday.
Erica Merritt also had two hits, while Soleil Mathieu hit a triple for the Greyhounds. Jenn Hogan pitched a no-hitter and picked up the win for Lisbon.
Jenna Caswell scored the only run for Carrabec.
Messalonskee 4, Lewiston 1
LEWISTON – Lauren Blake belted a two-run double in the second inning to put Messalonskee up 4-0 as the Eagles went on to defeat Lewiston, 4-1, in a Class A softball game on Monday.
Messalonskee had RBI singles in the first from Stacey Stuart and Lauren Suttie who finished with two hits. Amanda Barker pitched a complete-game with 10 strikeouts and three hits allowed for Messalonskee (7-2).
Mellisa Lacroix singled and scored the lone run for Lewiston (3-4) in the third.
Poland 3, York 2
POLAND — Dani Belanger tripled in the eventual winning run in the bottom of the sixth inning to lift Poland to a triumphant 3-2 win over York in WMC softball action on Monday.
With the game tied 2-2 in the bottom of the sixth inning, Abby Perkins drew a walk and was driven in soon after when Belanger smacked a clutch triple to put the Knights on top 3-2. Kelli O’Connor earned the mound win for Poland and improves to 5-1 on the season.
Haley Woods was saddled with the loss for the Wildcats (3-4) and falls to 3-4 this season.
St. Doms 1, Sacopee Valley 0
AUBURN – Emily Goss went the distance, giving up just two hits and striking out eight, to carry St. Doms to a 1-0 victory over Sacopee Valley in a pitchers’ duel on Monday.
The Saints’ (6-0) only run was scored in the first when Abby Gilbert hit a sacrifice bunt that brought home Elisha Dorso for the lone run of the game.
Sacopee (5-1) starter Michelle Libby pitched all seven innings, allowing three hits and one walk, while striking out nine in a tough luck loss.
Telstar 9, Hebron 2
HEBRON — Jillian Kimball pitched seven innings of four-hit ball to lead Telstar to a 9-2 win over Hebron in a softball matchup on Monday.
Kimball struck out 10 batters without surrendering a walk to notch the mound win for the Rebels (8-1). Jessie Farmington, Sarah Farnum and Kara Jacques provided the offensive spark for Telstar, each contributing a double in the game.
Sarah Irish was the starting pitcher for the Huskies (6-2) and kept her team in the game, holding Telstar to three runs over four innings of work before giving way to reliever Tiffany Bichrest. Bichrest smashed a home run in the seventh inning to lead Hebron offensively.
Jay 4, Madison 2
MADISON – Lindsey McDonald singled in the eventual game-winner in the eighth inning as Jay bumped Madison 4-2 in MVC softball action on Monday.
The Bulldogs (6-1) scored first with a pair of runs in the fourth inning. But the Tigers (7-0) earned one back in the sixth, and Tiffany Catwolf executed a perfect bases-loaded sacrifice bunt in the top of the seventh to plate Felicia Floyd, who had singled, to tie up the game and send it into extra innings.
Kaylee DeMillo led off the eighth with a single, stole second and scored on McDonald’s single. McDonald scored a safety on a fielders’ choice and Bree Loon improved on her undefeated season.
Mt. Abram 17, Mountain Valley 8
SALEM — Katie Walker pitched all seven innings to earn the win for Mt. Abram as the Roadrunners cruised to an easy 17-8 win over Mountain Valley in MVC softball action on Monday.
Catcher Allison Delassandro had two hits to help the Roadrunners (5-2) put the game out of reach.
Mallory Thurston tripled and Corey Warren hit safely twice for the Falcons (2-5).
Livermore Falls 16, Dirigo 5
DIXFIELD — The Livermore Falls softball squad parlayed 17 walks and six hit batters into a 16-5 win over Dirigo in more MVC softball action on Monday.
The Andies (3-5) were patient at the plate and received 23 free passes in all, rendering nearly every hit an RBI opportunity. The Livermore Falls offense was highlighted by Kristy Allen, who went 2-for-2 with a bases-clearing double and Danielle Gray who also knocked in three runs.
The Cougars (1-7) were led by Melissa Bacon, who knocked a two-RBI triple in the fourth inning. Ci Ci Chow finished 2-for-3 on the game.
