Once again, the battle lines are being drawn. On the one side, the state Legislature and governor have enacted a law to prohibit discrimination in housing, employment and credit based on sexual orientation. On the other side is the Christian right which, based upon their interpretation of the Holy Bible, seeks to overturn this legislation and thus perpetuate the prejudice and hatred against gay citizens.

The last I heard of this battle they called it “special rights.” Now they want people to believe that this is part of the “homosexual agenda” to gain the right to marry, adopt children (possibly abuse them) and then “convert” those kids into the gay lifestyle.

The only agenda at work here is the conservative, religious right’s agenda to enact secular laws that reflect their theology. If this is what they want to do, at least be open and honest about it, and do it the right way. Change the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution and make this a Christian nation. I dare them. Indeed, I challenge them.

Once the Constitution endorses the Christian doctrine, the government could then legitimately pass judgment on all those perceived to be breaking God’s laws. Suspects could be denied equal justice. They could be thrown into prison or even executed. The government could do all those things in the name of God because they are sinners. And the courts would back it up 100 percent because both the Constitution and the Holy Bible would endorse it.
