FARMINGTON – Florence G. Spunt, 81, of Main Street, Rangeley, died early Tuesday morning, May 10, at Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington following a long illness and was surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Rangeley, June 1, 1923, a daughter of Howard E. “Hall” and Sarah E. “Sadie” Pickens Grant. She received her education in Rangeley schools and graduated from Rangeley High School in 1940.

She was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, a former member of the Rangeley Snowmobile Club, and was a former EMT with the Rangeley Region Ambulance Corp.

Her interests included fly fishing with friends at the family camp in Little Kennebago and in Labrador. She also enjoyed cross country skiing, snowmobiling, and most outdoor sports.

She and her husband of 32 years, James J. Spunt, owned a successful home interior business in Rangeley for many years. She was a wonderful homemaker, devoted wife and mother, and will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her husband of 32 years, James J. Spunt, of Rangeley; a daughter, Bonnie Grant-Berry and her husband, Don, of Clearwater, Fla.; a sister, Louise G. Doak of Rangeley; a brother, George H. Grant of Huntsville, Ala.; a grandson, Frank D. Satriano Jr., of Oldsmar, Fla.; a granddaughter, Rebecca Grant Seaburger of San Diego, Calif.; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by a sister, Doris M. Dolbier; and brothers, Edward P. Grant and Randall J. Grant.
