LEWISTON – The Maine Educational Opportunity Center will hold workshops on the essentials of college planning, led by MEOC adviser Christy Le, as follows:

Monday, May 16, 2 to 5 p.m., B Street Community Center, 269 Bates St.

Wednesday, May 25, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Lewiston Career Center, 5 Mollison Way.

Wednesday, May 25, 1:30 to 4:30 p.m., Central Maine Community College, 312 Jalbert Hall, Auburn.

Adults considering college are invited to participate in the free college-planning workshop sponsored by the center.

Unlike student financial aid programs, which help students overcome financial barriers to higher education, the center has been providing support services to help students from low income and working families successfully enter college since 1991.

The center helps adult students to overcome class, social, academic and cultural barriers to higher education. Services include assistance in choosing a college, tutoring, personal and financial counseling, career counseling, assistance in applying to college, workplace and college visits and assistance in applying for financial aid.

Call 1-800-281-3703 to register. All services are free.
