PERU – The Demerritt Cemetery Association is making preparations for the summer care of the cemetery. Anyone owning a lot, or a relative of family buried there, is asked to contact the association about addresses. RUMFORD – The men and women of the class of 1954 of Stephens High School will meet for lunch at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 18, at the River Valley Diner on Exchange Street.

MEXICO – Members of the Stephens High School class of 1949 will meet for the monthly luncheon at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 25, at Dick’s in Mexico, newly renovated and enlarged.

RUMFORD – Parents of children who will attend Virginia Elementary School next year are invited to visit the school at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 19.

Birthday party

MEXICO – The Mexico Library will host a birthday party from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 24, to celebrate 80 years of existence in the town. In addition to birthday cake and beverages being served all day, there will be a used-book sale.

A raffle will be held, including gift certificates for pizza, party platters, handcrafted items, gift baskets, new books, movie rentals and a lava lamp. Prices for raffle tickets will be $1 each or six for $5.

A puppeteer show will be held at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. by Michelle Boucher-Ladd and Gabriel Ladd. For more information, call 364-3281.
