BETHEL – Terry Collins singled up the middle to drive in Ryan Cross for the game-winning run as Telstar booted Boothbay 8-7 in MVC baseball action on Friday.

Roy Arsenault started the game on the mound for the Seahawks (3-4), but was quickly relieved by Adam Climo.

The game remained tight through four innings of play, before the Rebels (4-4) broke through a 2-2 tie in the bottom of the fifth inning with three runs. Boothbay rallied back for five runs, but Telstar retrieved three for the one-run edge and held on for the win.

Mountain Valley 3, Dirigo 2

DIXFIELD – Korey Staires went the distance with 10 strikeouts and one walk to lead Mountain Valley to a 3-2 victory over Dirigo in baseball action on Friday.

In the sixth, Ben Madigan had a leadoff walk, followed by a single from David Marr. Then Staires smacked an RBI single that scored Madigan, and Marr scored on a wild pitch for the game-winning run for the Falcons. For Dirigo (4-6), it was Chris Richards with an RBI single in the seventh that scored John Smith.

Mt. Blue 3, Waterville 1

WATERVILLE – John Maloney scored the eventual game-winner on a passed ball as Mt. Blue edged Waterville 3-1 in KVAC boys’ baseball action on Friday.

The Panthers (7-4) opened up the scoring in the first inning when Anthony Jabar tripled in Connor McCarthy, who had singled.

In the top of the third, the Cougars (7-3) got things started with a single by Hal Robbins, who stole second and scored on the base hit by Maloney. Luke Lambert then singled to move Maloney to third.

Following a passed ball and stolen base by Lambert, Steve Wells hit a sacrifice fly to plate Lambert for the safety.

Gardiner 17, Leavitt 0

GARDINER – Brandon Labourdais seized a three-run triple in the second inning to launch Gardiner to a 17-0 win over Leavitt in KVAC baseball action Friday.

The Tigers (9-2) scored four runs in each of the second and third innings, and knocked Sean Doyle from the game in the fourth inning. Gardiner scored nine runs in the fourth frame.

The Hornets (2-9) had only one hit, while committing five errors in the five-inning outing.

Mt. Abram 7, Georges Valley 3

SALEM – Sam Day had three hits and two RBIs to lead Mt. Abram to a 7-3 victory over Georges Valley. Jordan Norton had two RBIs for the Roadrunners (6-4). Rob Thorndike went six innings to pick up the win for Mt. Abram.

Ed Sprague smacked an RBI single in the top of the seventh that scored Jeremy Hall who finished with three hits for Georges Valley (3-5).

Monmouth 7, Madison 4

MONMOUTH – Monmouth scored six runs in the fifth highlighted by a two-run single off the bat of Andy Bellmore that scored Cameron Saucier and Shane Kibler as Monmouth defeated Madison 7-4 in baseball action.

Monmouth starter Scott Ogden pitched six innings with five strikeouts to improve his record to (3-1).

Madison’s Brock Frederick belted a two-run single in the top of the sixth that brought home Josh Thibideau and Tony Fortin who finished with three hits on the night.

Mt. Ararat 11, Lewiston 8

LEWISTON – Mt. Ararat scored seven runs in the third highlighted by a solo home run from Marshall Chick and a two-run single off the bat of Nick White as Mt. Ararat held on to win 11-8 in a baseball matchup.

Jamie Reilly had three hits and two triples for the Eagles (8-2).

Lewiston was led by Luke Potter who drove in five runs. Lewiston (4-6) had the tying run on in the bottom of the seventh with no outs, but failed to score.

Oxford Hills 8, Skowhegan 1

SKOWHEGAN – Corey Saunders had two hits and two RBIs to lead Oxford Hills to an 8-1 victory over Skowhegan.

Ben Ryerson also had two hits for the Vikings (10-1). Alex Waite pitched five innings to pick up the win for Oxford Hills.

Brad Beauregard hit an RBI single in the sixth that scored Matt Oullette for Skowhegan’s (6-5) lone run.
