There is much energy waste in our state. Energy-efficient appliances could save Mainers $16 million a year and cut 100,000 tons of global warming pollution by 2012. Environment Maine is working to set an efficiency standard on new appliances sold in Maine. There are some lobbyists from out-of-state manufacturing companies and Home Depot, which are working to end this effort.
Energy efficiency legislation, L.D. 1435 deserves support.
