LOVELL – A Limerick firm has been awarded a $1.3 million contract to resurface about 4.7 miles of Route 5.

F.R. Carroll Inc. will begin the work in July and must be finished by Nov. 12, according to a recent announcement by the Maine Department of Transportation.

The work will include resurfacing the road with a hot-mix asphalt, as well as making drainage and guardrail improvements.

The improvements will begin about a mile north of the southern junction of Routes 5A and 5 and extend north for 4.69 miles.
