WELLESLEY, Mass. (AP) – Former Dun & Bradsheet chairman and CEO Robert Weissman and his wife, Jan, have donated $20 million to Babson College, the largest gift from an individual donor in the school’s history, Babson announced Monday.

Weissman, a 1964 graduate of Babson, also has two sons and a daughter-in-law who have earned degrees from the college.

Most of the money he donated will be set aside for financial aid to students, according to Babson spokesman Michael Chmura.

“Jan and I hope our gift helps the next generation of Babson students make their dreams a reality,” Weissman said in a statement.

Babson President Brian Barefoot said the gift is a “historic milestone.”

“As we think back to our founder, Roger Babson, and the early days of the college, there have been a few transformative moments. This clearly is one of them,” he said in a statement.

Weissman has served vice chairman of the school’s board of trustees. In 1995, the college awarded him an honorary degree.
