PORTLAND – O.R.B.I.T.S., a five-piece band representing Maranacook High School in Readfield, earned top honors in Reindeer Records’ 21st annual Rock-Off competition. The band won $1,000, the title of Best Young Band in the State of Maine and recording-studio time.

A capacity crowd was on hand for the show that featured the top five high school bands: Grand Slam Breakfast and Interobang, representing Erskine Academy; Midriff from Scarborough High School; The Shams, a home-schooled band; and O.R.B.I.T.S.

This was the second time in the competition for O.R.B.I.T.S., said Rock-Off producer Louis Philippe.

Band members are: Dean Grondin on guitar; Peter Herman, lead guitar; Willy Herman, bass; John Mrazik, drums; and Sam Watson, lead vocals.
