MEXICO – The Mexico United Church of Christ, also called “the Green Church,” 163 Main St., is inviting people to “A Concert at the Green.” Performing will be the church’s senior choir and guest musicians of the Mahoosuc Community Band of Bethel. The concert will begin at 4 p.m. Sunday, May 22.

The Mahoosuc band has about 30 members. Although they practice in Bethel, the musicians come from a much larger region. The band has adults and student musicians whose goal is “to just have fun and play music together.”

Under the direction of Patricia Boyle-Wight, music for the concert will include “Tijuana Brass in Concert,” “El Capitan” by John Philip Sousa, the “Stray Cat Strut” and many other favorites. The senior choir will sing several songs and, organizers say, there may possibly be a singing surprise from the Snapp-Cunningham family.

A freewill offering will be taken to defray music expenses for the band, with half going toward the church’s “Raise the Roof Fund.” Work is to begin in July. For more information, people may call 364-8603.
