WELD – Bernard W. Buck, 82, of Weld, died Thursday, May 19, in the comfort of his own home.

He was born, April 7, 1923, in Lewiston, a son of Thomas and Clara (Lozier) Buck. He grew up in the Lewiston and Monmouth areas.

On July 4, 1941, he married Ruth M. Ward in Winthrop. They lived in Portland while he operated an Amoco gas station at Cash Corner for seven years. They moved to Weld in 1944 where he worked at Boise Cascade until his retirement in 1983 due to health reasons.

He enjoyed his motorcycle and hunting in his earlier years, cribbage, gardening, basketball, football and baseball. Among his favorites were the Boston Celtics, New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox.

He belonged to the Webb Lake Association and the American Legion Post 203 of Weld.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years of Weld; two sisters, Eleanor Flannery and Dot Witherell of Texas; a granddaughter, Karen Eaton and her husband, David, of Lisbon Falls; two gransons, Lt. Kevin Cochran and wife, Holly, of Virginia, and Keith Cochran and his wife, Christine, of South Carthage; 11 great-grandchildren; and stepgreat-grandchildren; a son-in-law, Henry Cochran and his wife, Carol, and their daughter, Chris, of Weld.

He was predeceased by his parents; a daughter, Lila Cochran; a sister, Regina; and a brother, Albert Buck.
