FARMINGTON – Amanda Michaud struck out eight batters and gave up only three hits as Lewiston glided to a 6-1 win over Mt. Blue in KVAC softball action on Friday.
The Blue Devils (7-6) expanded on a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning when Jess Nadeau led off with a walk and Danielle Willey tripled.
Lewiston kept things rolling with a one-out RBI single by Melissa Lacroix and a double by Michaud, before Allie Morin clubbed a two-run single for a 5-0 lead.
The Cougars (3-9) were able to spoil the shutout with a seventh-inning single by Olivia Hastings, plating Amanda Ross, who doubled.
Lisbon 4, Mountain Valley 1
LISBON – Jen Hogan twirled a complete game, striking out four batters, to lead Lisbon to a 4-1 win over Mountain Valley in MVC softball play on Friday.
The Greyhounds were led offensively by Belle Mathieu, Siohban Riordan, and Hogan with a pair of hits each. Soleil Mathieu, and Belle Mathieu each doubled in the win.
The Falcons were led by Mallory Thurston who tripled for the only extra base. Kim Clark was their only repeat hitter.
Livermore Falls 12, Winthrop 0
LIVERMORE FALLS – Danielle Gray spun a complete game shutout as Livermore Falls downed Winthrop 12-0 in MVC softball play on Friday.
The Andies (6-7) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning, scoring in all but the second inning. Erica Gats, Krista Allen, and Sarah Hamilton wielded the big bats for Livermore Falls with Gats and Allen each doubling.
Winthrop was led by Kayla Kimball with a double for the only extra base hit for the Ramblers (1-10).
Poland 14, Fryeburg 2
POLAND – Robyn Gauthier (three hits) was a one-woman wrecking crew Friday, belting out an RBI double and a home run to lead Poland to a 14-2 win in WMC softball action.
Kelli O’Connor and Brianna Pratt combined on the hill to limit Fryeburg to four hits and a pair of runs in the lopsided win. Cortney Clark joined Gauthier with three hits, while Abby Perkins added a double for the Knights (7-5). Fryeburg was led by Carise Humphrey with a pair of singles.
Telstar 16, Mt. Abram 2
SALEM – Jillian Kimball went 5-for-5 with five runs scored to carry Telstar to a 16-2 triumph over Mt. Abram in a softball contest on Friday.
Telstar pitcher Jessie Farrington pitched a complete-game, allowing five hits and collecting 13 strikeouts to improve her record to 5-0. Chelsea Cozzolino had two hits and a double for the Rebels (9-2).
For Mt. Abram (9-4), Heather Hayes had two hits and an RBI.
Georges Valley 6, Madison 5
THOMASTON – Trailing 5-3 in the bottom of the sixth inning, Juliette Laaka unloaded a three-run home run to lift Georges Valley to a 6-5 win over Madison in MVC softball action on Friday.
Heather Watts picked up the win, going the distance to record the seventh win of the season for the Buccaneers (7-4).
Tannis McCourt took the loss, with Jessica Hayden carrying the offensive lead with a triple for the only extra base hit for the Bulldogs (9-4).
Buckfield 25, Valley 2
BUCKFIELD – Buckfield scored 17 runs in the second inning highlighted by a two-run home run from Tiffany Dunn as Buckfield demolished Valley 25-2 in a E-WC softball matchup on Friday.
Dunn finished the game with three hits.
Lindsey Neal had two hits, including a double and an RBI for the Bucks (8-3). Buckfield took advantage of Valley’s 10 errors.
Oxford Hills 3, Waterville 1
SOUTH PARIS – Randi Arsenault went the distance, giving up three hits and one walk, to lead Oxford Hills to a 3-1 win against Waterville in softball action on Friday.
Oxford Hills had two RBI singles, Cori Runes hit an RBI single that scored Jill Cole, and Sam Dolloff singled in Annie Foster for the Vikings (10-3).
Carolann Gate had three hits for Waterville (4-10).
Mt. Ararat 4, EL 1
TOPSHAM – Brittany Ingelson pitched a complete-game four-hitter to lead Mt. Ararat to a 4-1 win over Edward Little in a KVAC softball contest on Friday. Janna Brown had three hits for the Eagles (5-8).
For Edward Little (3-10), Lyndsey St.Hillaire belted a pair of hits. Katelyn Chamberlain took the loss on the mound for the Red Eddies.
Oak Hill 10, Mt. View 2
WALES – Oak Hill broke out the whooping sticks Friday, belting out 12 hits en route to a 10-2 win over Mt. View in KVAC softball play on Friday.
Angie Russell, Sarah Radovich, Kristen Eaton, Chelsea Rioux and Magan Blais each rapped out a pair of hits to account for the Raiders’ (3-9) runs.
Danielle Potvin picked up the win with relief from Cortney Seguin in the sixth inning.
Kristy Clements had a pair of hits for the Mustangs (3-9).
Leavitt 5, Lawrence 2
TURNER – Heidi Swett drove in the tying run and then crossed the plate with the eventual game-winner in the bottom of the third inning to propel Leavitt to a 5-2 win over Lawrence in KVAC softball play.
Trailing 2-0 heading into the third inning, a walk and error set the stage for Swett. She singled, plating Jess Paladino to tie the contest and eventually crossed the plate, as the Bulldogs (8-5) shortstop bobbled the ball, allowing the winning run to score.
Beth Burgess notched the win with a complete game, striking out four. Caroline Bochtler rapped a double for the Hornets’ (6-7) only extra base hit.
Lawrence was led by Jamie Nickerson with a triple.
Girls’ lacrosse
Messalonskee 15, EL 3
OAKLAND – Heidi Stucks and Jenna Lettenberger tallied four goals apiece as Messalonskee cruised to a 15-3 win over Edward Little in KVAC girls’ lacrosse action on Friday.
The Eagles (6-4) took a modest 5-1 lead into intermission, but kept up the pressure in the second half to break things open with 10 goals.
Co-captain Katie Bonnie led the Red Eddies (2-8) with a pair of goals.
