RUMFORD – George A. Libby Sr., 61, died Saturday, May 21, at the Rumford Hospital. He was a resident of the East Andover Road, East Andover.

Born in Portland on July 13, 1943, he was a son of Ernest and Harriet (Johnson) Libby. He attended schools in Westbrook. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Wasp from 1960 to 1964.

He worked for S.D. Warren Paper Co. as a millwright and specialized boiler maker.

He enjoyed motorcycles, boating and traveling, and was known for his love of cats and his dog, Tojo.

He was married in Andover on May 1, 2004 to Donna Meisner, who survives of Andover. Other survivors include a son, George Libby Jr. of Portland; a daughter, Leslie Zales of Lexington, Mass.; his mother, Harriet Libby of Westbrook; a sister, Evangeline Libby of Alturas, Calif.; a brother, Harold Libby of Harrison; granddaughters, Amelia Libby, Grace, Jessica and Elizabeth Zales; and many nieces and nephews.
