Dear Sun Spots: I am an 11-year-old boy who loves ’60s and ’70s rock ‘n’ roll music. To prove I love it so much is a simply-answered question:
I play the drums and am currently learning to play guitar. Plus, I am a huge fan of The Who, David Bowie and The Doors. Now, my question is: Could you please help me contact these rock musicians? It would be so cool to write to them and receive their autographs. Please help me find the addresses of the remaining Doors’ and Who members. Thank you so much for your help. Also, could you please tell me the sources of where you find your addresses? Or, provide a good source to locate them. Thank you again. – Zack from Auburn.
Answer: How wonderful, Zack, that you are a beginning musician yourself. Sun Spots hopes to hear of you in the years ahead.
In addition to responses from readers, Sun Spots typically uses Christensen’s Ultimate, Movie, TV, Rock ‘n’ Roll, Sports and Celebrity Address Directory and also the Lewiston and Auburn Public libraries. However, the quickest source is often the Internet and Google. One item leads to another until you can track it down. Take David Bowie for instance. Sun Spots would typically try to find a fan club or agent and go from there. In his case, Sun Spots located a fan club, then chat room that mentioned Bowie’s publicity company. The next step is to contact them to see if they still represented Bowie. Low and behold they do. You can reach him through: Columbia Records, c/o David Bowie, 500 Madison Ave., New York, NY 10022.
Regarding Pete Townshend of The Who, you can try reaching him through his Web site at http://www.petetownshend.co.uk/projects/thewho. To contact him via post, you might want to try: Pete Townshend, c/o Eel Pie Publishing, P.O. Box 305, Twickenham TW1 1TT, England and Roger Daltrey, c/o Trinifold Management, 22 Harley House, Marylebone Road, London NW1 4PR, England. You can also contact The Doors via their Web site at www.thedoors.com.
