RUMFORD – The Rumford Public Library has announced that “Finding Nemo” will be the Children’s Theatre presentation of this year’s Summer Fest program.

Theater professional Nancy O. DeMilner will be back for a seventh season as director of the theater. She has adapted the Disney Pixar film for presentation on the Rumford Town Hall stage, and it includes singing, dancing and speaking parts.

Participation in Children’s Theatre is free and open to all children in the area ages 5 to 15. Older teens interested in backstage work are also welcome.

Auditions will consist of acting warm-ups, group singing and dancing, and a discussion of production details and responsibilities, followed by individual line readings and solo auditions for those interested in major roles.

“The stage experience is vital to our young performers. We will focus on stage skills, physical comedy, character-building and acting,” DeMilner said. “‘Finding Nemo’ has lots of characters, including clown fish, sharks, turtles, starfish, octopus, sea gulls and other assorted sea creatures. We always find room for everyone interested in performance art.”

Auditions will be held at the Rumford Public Library at 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 31, with callbacks at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 2. Rehearsals will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 to 7:30 p.m. throughout June and July. A commitment to attend all rehearsals is essential.

Afternoon and evening performances of the show are planned for Thursday, July 28, in the Rumford Town Hall auditorium. For more information, call the Rumford Public Library at 364-3661.
