AUBURN – The Auburn-Lewiston YMCA and L/A Trails will present the third annual L/A Wellness Weekend, which will feature a 5K road race, fun walk, cycling competitions and a variety of other fun, health-oriented events.

Participants will range from beginners to weekend warriors to elite athletes from all over New England. Organizers anticipate 1,000 event participants and more than 5,000 spectators over the two-day event. All events will be held rain or shine.

Local organizations will display wellness information and provide health screenings. Local venders will offer food and refreshments. Proceeds from the weekend will be donated to the Auburn-Lewiston YMCA for Youth and Teen Programming and L/A Trails.

Biking events

L/A Wellness Weekend Lake Auburn Bicycle Race: Saturday, June 4, at 9:30 a.m. Registration will be at the Auburn Land Lab, corner of Holbrook Road. The course is an 11-mile hilly loop around Lake Auburn. Fees are $20 if postmarked by May 31; $10 for juniors; and a $5 late charge for registrations received after May 31.

L/A Wellness Weekend Lake Auburn Bike Tour: Saturday, June 4, at 10 a.m. A ride through the countryside of western Auburn and Minot. There will be two routes: a 10-miler and a more challenging 30-mile course. Participants will meet in the front lot of Central Maine Community College, 1250 Turner St. Same day registration at CMCC. Cost is $5 a person, $15 a family. Helmets are mandatory.

L/A Wellness Weekend Great Falls Criterium Bicycle Race: Sunday, June 5, at 8 a.m. A fast three-quarter-mile mile loop, with four corners, in downtown Auburn and one short steep uphill after the start/finish line. The field is limited to 20 minimum and 100 maximum. Fees are $20 if postmarked by May 31; $10 for juniors; $10 second race fee; and a $5 late charge after May 31.

Cash and prizes of $1,750 will be awarded along with medals for top finishers. All bicycle race entries include USCF Insurance surcharge.

L/A Wellness Weekend Kid’s Bike Race: Sunday, June 5, at 11:30 a.m. The free race for ages 3 to 10 will take place in front of the Auburn-Lewiston YMCA. Registration will be in front of Key Bank, corner of Court and Turner streets. Register by 11 a.m. Races will be by age categories and will take place on a short loop in front of the Auburn-Lewiston YMCA. There will be awards for every participant.

Run/walk events

L/A Wellness Weekend 3K Fun Walk: Sunday, June 5, at 9 a.m. The 1.5-mile event will begin at the corner of Court and Turner streets. The route is a flat course that showcases Railroad Park in Lewiston and ends along the new River Walk at Festival Plaza in Auburn. Healthy Androscoggin will sponsor the event. After the walk Healthy Androscoggin will hold a Get Fit and Win Celebration at the Festival Plaza.

L/A Wellness Weekend 5K Run: Sunday, June 5, at 10 a.m. The 5K-road race will also begin at the corner of Court and Turner streets. The course is flat and fast. Participants will run in Auburn and Lewiston over two bridges. Awards will be presented to the top overall male and top overall female, as well as the top three finishers in each age category.

Fees are $12 for 5K if registered before June 4. The Fun Walk is free. Those wishing to register on race day may do so at a cost of $15. Registration will be held from 8 to 9:30 a.m. at Key Bank entrance across from the YMCA. Free T-shirts to the first 100 registered 5K participants. Event volunteers are needed. Kayak Exhibition: Sunday, June 5, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Festival Plaza.

Interactive Climbing Wall: Sunday, June 5, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Festival Plaza.

Cheering, Dance, Self-Defense, Gymnastics, Yoga and Pilates Demonstrations: Sunday, June 5, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., several groups will perform at the Festival Plaza.
