LEWISTON – Bertrand P. Michaud, 73, of 81 East Ave., passed away suddenly on May 24, at Central Maine Medical Center, Lewiston.

Born in Winthrop, on Sept. 22, 1931, he was the son of Herve “Harvey” and Marguerite Lagace Michaud. He graduated from St. Dominic High School with high honors in 1949.

After high school, he founded Radio City, specializing in auto sound systems. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard for three years as an electronics technician instructor.

On Oct. 6, 1951, he married Jeannine Belisle. They lived on Michaud Avenue in Lewiston for 22 years.

He was a salesman for Motorola Inc., in New England during that time. In 1965, he and his brother, Marcel, founded Cable Vision. They also founded Rhombus Inc., a real estate company.

In 1986, he and his wife moved to East Avenue in Lewiston. At that time he worked at Bath Iron Works in the Calibration Lab, from which he retired in 1994. He loved working at BIW and always said it was like going to play in a toy store with all the latest electronics equipment.

He enjoyed working on his computers, and sending e-mail to his children and grandchildren. He and his wife loved to travel and spent time in Florida yearly. Last year they went to London aboard the Queen Mary II, and they also visited Alaska and Hawaii in recent years.

He is survived by his wife, Jeannine; three sons, Dennis and his wife, Irene, of Dracut, Mass., James of Brunswick and Bertrand of Auburn; two daughters, Eileen of Old Orchard, and Judith and her husband, Duane Casey, of Skowhegan; 12 grandchildren, Rachel and Thomas Michaud of Dracut, Mass., and Bret, Stephen, Jeffrey, Daniel, Amy, Sarah, Grace, Scott, Gregory and Robert Casey of Skowhegan; one sister, Yvette Beaudoin of Dracut, Mass.; and two brothers, Maurice and his wife, Jeannine, of Ocean Springs, Miss., and Marcel and his wife, Constance, of Lewiston. He was very close and will be sadly missed by his brothers and sisters-in-law, Armand and Barbara Belisle, Paul and Sally Belisle, Bertrand Belisle, John Belisle, Monique Belisle, Claire and James Baker, and Patricia Salters.

He was predeceased by his parents; one brother-in-law, Raymond Beaudoin; and one sister-in-law, Diane Belisle.
