TOGUS – Charles E. Patten Sr., 54, of Norway, died Tuesday, May 24, at the VA hospital at Togus.

He was born in Bethel, on June 15, 1950, the son of Leroy Patten Sr., and Blanche Hatstat Patten. He received his education at Oxford Hills High School and had been a sawyer in local woodmills for years. He had previously been employed at Paris Manufacturing Co.

He married Carol Mason on Nov. 8, 1969.

He loved fishing, hunting, telling jokes and helping friends and neighbors with anything. He faithfully served his country in the U.S. Army.

He is survived by his wife of Norway; three daughters, Patricia Plummer and Mitch of South Paris, Michelle Damon and Chris of Andover, and Kimberly Patten and her fiance, Ryan Leonard, of Oxford; a son, Charles Jr., and Sarah of Harrison; 11 grandchildren; five sisters; six brothers; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.
