LEWISTON – Denise Marie Lanois Lachapelle, 54, of 441 Meadowview Park, Lewiston, passed away on May 23, at d’Youville Pavilion, where she had been a resident since March 22. With family and friends by her side, she fought a long, courageous battle with colon cancer.

Born in Lewiston, on Feb. 2, 1951, she was the daughter of the late Romeo and Laurette Cote Lanois. She married Richard Lachapelle on Sept. 18, 1970.

She was educated in local schools and proudly obtained her G.E.D. in 1985. She worked at Koss Shoes, Stride Rite and Billen Shoes. She also worked at Blais Flower Shop, Caldwell’s Bridal Shop and retired from Hannaford Supermarket.

She loved socializing, arts and crafts, cake decorating, knitting, shopping and spending quality time with her special friends, Dan and Ginna, Lucy, Irene, Lenny, Mary Ann, and Bob Bedard. She most enjoyed spending quality time with her husband, son and especially her grandson, Austin.

Survivors include her husband of 34 years, Richard; her son, James and wife, Tina Lachapelle; grandson, Austin; three sisters, Jacqueline and husband, Lynn Leger, Rachel and husband, Maurice Gagne, and Rita and husband, Paul Lemay; and several nieces, nephews, and brother- and sister-in-laws.

She was predeceased by her parents; her daughter, Anne Marie; and one brother, Gerard.
