RUMFORD – A man stuck in an elevator at the Hotel Harris on Hartford Street on Tuesday night climbed out after firefighters arrived to help him, said Rumford Deputy Chief Richard Coulombe.
An Oxford County dispatcher sent firefighters to the hotel at 8:45, where they found an elevator stuck between the third and fourth floors, Coulombe said.
A young man, whose name Coulombe said he didn’t get, had been stuck for about 15 minutes.
“We got him out through a hatch in the top, and shut the system down for the night, because we couldn’t get it to run,” Coulombe said.
He said the man climbed out of the elevator car on his own.
