Love was elusive in my jaded chase;

I sought my future in the times of worst,

I sought happiness in a charming face.

Empty glasses, guzzled, to quench the thirst;

Drank to honeyed locks of lustrous gold,

To gleaming white pearls cloaked by ruby veils,

To eventide dances, love not untold.

To these half-baked dreams a lesson entails:

Love is in the tender kiss of the wind

Love is the warm embrace of midday sun

Love is the newborn’s eyes, conscience unsinned

Love is the bond between mother and son

Love is the known, unknown, the never-known

Look deep in your heart; you are not alone.
